I live in Austin Texas. It's wierd and we plan on keeping it that way.

AM I WEIRD? KAW Quotient Test

I own the following (check all that apply):

1. A Tommy Hilfiger tattoo
2. An SUV with the extra tailgating magnet
3. A PDA and a cell phone and a pager and a laptop and a watch that cost more than $50
4. A Port-A-Potty

I have put marshmallow chickens in a microwave.

___ Yes ___ No

I know what a zilch is.

___ Yes ___ No

I know who Oscar Snowden was:

___ Yes ___ No ___ I think I am The Big O.

I spend more time in my car than I do eating.

___ Yes ___ No ___ A man in Australia once ate a car

I have never been above 45th Street nor below Oltorf.

___ Yes ___ No

Given the choice of a deep-fried brioche and a low-fat funnel cake, which would you choose?

___ Yes ___ No

Which of the following do you think are good ideas?

1. Mandatory jalapeno-eating contests
2. A dueling green in Zilker Park
3. A tug-of-war between Circle C and East Austin. Winner takes all.
4. A theme park recreating The Stallion, Tortilla Flats, Armadillo World Headquarters, San Jacinto Cafe, and Jake’s

The city council should address the following issues:

1. Trompe d'oeil speed bumps
2. Vocabulary-boosting word-a-day skywriting
3. Reduced quality of hallucinations

The last time I saw a rattlesnake on West 27th Street was:

1. 1974

For each "Yes" answer, deduct 5% from line five. For each "No" answer, go forth and multiply by 35. For the numbered questions, add the number of your choices to the date this page was updated. If you scored less than 16, you definitely may or may not be weird enough.

Aussies are the dominant group here by far and NO-ONE can dispute that because DCS itself is an AUSTRALIAN Business situated in Australia and ALL the DCS products you all use are MADE IN AUSTRALIA so beat that!!

Proudly living in the 'Land of DCS' the land which gave birth to TDS 3, WormGuard, Port Explorer, CryptoSuite and now Process Guard.

I truly feel sorry for those of you not from Australia because whatever you have - you don't have DCS!!

Greetings to all.
I am here in Washington, DC USA, living in the center city, Adams Morgan neighborhood (where all the partying goes on all night!)
I am a member of GLITCH DC, an affiliate of Capitol PC Users Group (one of the oldest, largest PC Users Groups in the U.S.)
A business associate recently turned me on to Wilders Security web site and the software available here after I had a recent bout with some vicious virus attacks that immobilized me for over a week. Extended tech support calls to Symantec's Norton AV (which I have been running for years), HP (manufacturer of my machine), and Microsoft resulted in no resolution of the issue (but caused me to learn some Urdu language in the process [grin]). I ended up resolving the issue by myself, and now have high hopes for guarding against a repeat of the experience with JavaCool software solutions. Happy to be here and hope I might at some point be able to offer some help to someone else in a quandry. Thanks for being here, all of you.

Hi Everybody,

fifi here and I'm originally from Texas. I have lived almost all over the USA!!!

My dad was a welder when he was a live!!! So we traveled (mom and us four kids and of course dad too)!!!

I have three children and two grandsons and hoping that my daughter-in-law will have a little girl sometime in April!!!

The main reason I registered with this forum was to find out what ways does the spyware program have of collecting money from the ones that want to pay for a subscription for Spyware automatic updates? Will they accept Stormpay or Paypal or is it credit cards only? I don't have a credit card so how would I get my money to them?

Are we allowed to put a signature in our posts and if so what are the rules?

What does "Close Current Tag & Close All Tags" mean & where can I get the information explaining all the things about this forum?

I will appreciate any help I receive!!!!

Thanks,

fifi

Hi fifi, and welcome to Wilders.

Since this thread is really for Member introductions, I'll try and answer your questions briefly so as not to take this thread off topic, and post the links to where you can find the information you're looking for.

-{ Quote: "The main reason I registered with this forum was to find out what ways does the spyware program have of collecting money from the ones that want to pay for a subscription for Spyware automatic updates? With regard to forum rules and guidelines, you can read through our TOS (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/TOS-Privacy.html). As far as the different features for posting style and signatures, etc., we have a FAQs forum (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=8) that you can read through which may answer some of your questions, and also at the top of the forum you will see a clickable link called FAQ, which will give you a list of questions/answers on "User Maintenance", "General Forum Usage" and "Reading and Posting Messages" on the forum.

Once you've read through some of the FAQ's, you can practice using the different posting features in our Test forum (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7).

Hope the above helps, :)

I live in the State of Connecticut one of the 13 original states of the United States of America. Our state is proud of being noted as the Consitution State. The style and framework of the United States Consitution is based upon our State Consitution and State Charter that was hidden in the Great Oak Tree in our Capital city of Hartford. We have 4 seasons of climate so if you don't like the weather today, wait a little bit and it will change. We in CT have close ties to both Boston and New York City as they both influence our culture in Sports, Entertainment, Education and the Arts. I live equal distant from both as each is 1 1/2 hours commute by Car on a good day.

I'm in Colo-RAD-oh!

Thats Grrr-Really Colo-RAD-oh! But it should be
Brrr-Really cause its really cold outside.

Its so cold that when my computer froze up (in a very different manner than many before) I actually thought the internet may have froze up! ha!

Greeley is 40 minutes from Denver, out on the plains not up on the mountain.

Very nice forum site. And after reading much of the desperately needed info, it was quite nice to see this thread. Enjoyed it! :D

Will be posting my questions soon.

Morning. Well it is here anyway, about 00:20 AM. My name is Gordon and I live in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne which, as the name suggests, is on the River Tyne in North East England, about 8 miles from the Sea.
I've been aware of this forum for a while, and indeed one of the members here posts on an ISP forum I moderate on.
Anyway I finally got round to registering instead of just hovering around anonimously in the background. God knows this place is a hell of a good resource and it would make life a lot easier if a few more people on the net took security seriously.
Enough of my rambling, glad to be here ;D

And that spells Dallas, my darlin', Dallas ...

OK, that's all I can stomach. Actually I'm an Angel from God sent to Dallas to daily remind University of Texas football fans that the Oklahoma Sooners have beaten them 5 -- five! -- straight years in the annual Red River Shootout each October at the Cotton Bowl. I seldom go out without an OU cap, or shirt, or shoes, or jacket. But I came by it honestly, not only graduating from Oklahoma University but working in the Athletic Department and then covering the Sooners as a sportswriter for several newspapers throughout the southwestern United States during their glory years.

If you're interested in the kind of football that requires armor and helmets, check this out: http://www.writeanswer.org/Sonrise/sooners.htm

I also joined to see posts about Acronis true image server and also will sniff around the other topics.

I am in dinky little town called Panama City in Florida. It's a bit quite here compared to what I am used to . I lived in Sydney, Australia for 59 years so to be in such a small town is a bit different.

Still there are some people here who use computers and need help. My wife suddenly got homesick and that's why I am now in Panama City.

Actually I shouldn't complain as I rather like it here. My only problem is dodging all those idiot drivers here who insist on driving on the right side of the road instead of the (natural and logical) left hand side of the road. Can be a bit nerve racking sometimes. The traffic police are so unreasonable.

Hi Cochise,

I'm from Yorkshire originally, moved down here in 1988. Taken a LONG time to get 'used' to it's ways. But now, I definitely wouldn't go anywhere else in a hurry. Great place when you delve into it's history.

The Beach people you mention were wiped out during and after the 1953 storms that devastated the east coast. The area is a campsite these days and even that is under threat from developers. Hey ho, progress eh?

In addition to this reply, I got a message from 'Cartoon Boy' ? Unfortunately I had a pop up blocker turned on (which I'd forgot about) so I'll go on a hunt for the message...however, if Cartoon Boy is reading this...could you point it out to me please? I'm new and still 'feeling' my way around.

Regards all. Pete :D

Hello all. It took me a while to figure out what "member introductions" was, apparently.

My name is Clément, and I live in London, England UK. I am not however originally from London. My mother is English and my father is Mauritian (I guess that explains why I live in England ;)). I did live in Malaga, Spain for about 6 years on and off, and it was a real eye-opener. Living in another country is well-worth it's price, as it allows you to grow imparcial to foreign ways of thinking and open yourself up to new cultures.

I was born in Sunderland, England in 1983, and I studied in the neighbouring city Newcastle until I was 18 (I was at this time already living in Malaga now and again when school would permit). I then moved to London, where I started what has turned out to be a 4 year course in Computer Networks (BSc Hons). I am now in my 4th year, and I have grown as a person a lot, from being a part of community forums like these - seeing how other people think and feel - and recognising that in order to make a difference you have to start with yourself. I thank all other people that know what I mean, and thankyou for giving your input and help into the online community.

I have studied advanced network engineering, communications technology, wireless networks and digital media with reference to common software applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Director and Steinberg Cubasis. I touched business studies but did not gain anything substantial enough to become a qualified entrepeneur. I am a keen photographer and I find using graphical editing programs very interesting.

Thanks for listening,

`MishimaSan` aka Clément

Good Morning Mishimansan and BeetleBoss, greetings to fellow newbie Alan, too.

Thanks for the welcome BB and, thank you for your idea for my website M'san. All ideas very welcome. I had considered a m/bike site and, may go down that route. However I have a friend who makes Japanese swords and may talk to him about doing a joint venture.

You sound a very interesting guy M'san! Computer Networking! The next big thing? Or, just the natural progression of the way PCs will develope. A big world all joined up - ah!

I have a background in mechanical engineering, but wish modern PC technology had been as advanced as it is today, 40 yrs ago. That would definitley have been the path I would have chosen.

Glad to be on this forum and look forward to lots of postings.

Kind regards all, Pete :)

Wow, your friend makes Japanese swords? I'm really into Japanese martial arts, and I love using Katanas. I'm very tempted to buy the Paul Chen practical pro katana, but I'd have to find something practical to use it on. Haven't thought of anything yet, apart from legs of meat :-\.

Hi all,

Have I introduced myself before? I do so much writing on the Internet now I forget. (To see what I have written, just Google my handle, Prince_Serendip.)

Anyway, Wilders is a great forum, one of the best security related BB's that I encountered way back when. Made many friends here. I do not visit quite as often as in the past because I am very busy at other security boards. At one time, I had a deep desire to become a staff person here, but my abilities were not recognized. That's okay. Someone else recognized them. Now I am doing what I love to do. I translate techy into English that can be understood by almost anyone every week and I help people with AV, AT, spyware, adware and hijack problems. I like being busy. ;)

My best advice to people new to these forums is to lurk and read for awhile until you get to know how people do things here, then jump right in with both feet. ;D

Best regards and always take care of your security (but have some fun too). ;)

I used to live there for 1 year. Nice place, I lived just 3 mins walk from the tube station, in Manor Court, it's like an estate of three tall flat blocks on the left of the street as you walk down from the station towards Arnos Grove.

Below is a pic of my flat in Southgate! LOL. With my happy and VERY TALL flatmate. I think she's making the bed or something. I bet this picture really helps you understand where I lived... ::)

Am visiting this site from the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. I can see the Blue Ridge Mountains when I look all around me. We retired here after working in high stress production-type jobs and commuting around Chicago.

The Blue Ridge Mountains are quite different than the Rockies. They have a gentler feel to them, whereas the Rockies have a very strong, powerful impressiveness. We sure don't miss the commutes or the corporate world.

I'm here on these forums to get some answers. Wish me luck as SpyBlaster 3.3 is giving me update trouble.
