Now that we're on a relatively new page of this, so that the poll results are visible while I read, I just noticed something interesting.

We have one (count 'em, one) member in Antarctica, it appears. Would that be someone whose name I'd recognize (i.e., a relatively frequent poster)? I suppose I could wade back through this whole thread, but that's too much like work -- and of course the person could have simply "voted" without any additional comments.

And another, related, question just occurred to me -- who on earth had the foresight to include Antarctica as a possible choice?? 8)

bigc73542
January 19th, 2004, 11:47 PM
Including antarctica was thoughtful ??? But then again I doubt that there are many countries that have power to run a computer that doesn't have a member or two here at wilders. And if cochises avatar is any indication they may send us a smoke signal. ;)

I suppose "other" might have made more sense, for anyplace that didn't quite fit into the other choices.

But I shudder to think what some of us clowns woud have done with that opportunity. ;) The moon? Mars? Altair-4? ;D

It is been a really long time since I have posted here. It is probably because I live in the most gorgeous place in the world and I am often distracted by my scenery.

I am in the western US, in a valley surrounded by snow covered mountains with a beautiful lake in the middle.

You will find me out and about in those mountains, soaking up the sunshine and the beauty!

Welcome to anyone new I've missed. :)

Admittedly the poll only shows a little over 300 "votes", roughly 1/3 of 1 percent of 10 thousand registered members. Your guess is as good as mine whether the displayed results would still be in proportion if all members had to vote, although I'd guess that N. America and Europe would still be the vast majority.

P.S. The one (count 'em, one) we're showing as in Antarctica still intrigues the heck out of me -- wonder if he/she would still be alone if all members voted.

(One more edit) Hmm, let's try that mental math again -- make that three percent of members. Only in Cana-duhhhh, eh? :-[ ;D

Geez ... local connections!

My younger brother was born in Limestone, Maine while we lived in Caribou (my father was stationed at Loring AFB), and I was born in Kittery (while he was at Pease).

I've lived in Haverhill, Taxachusetts on and off for years, and I still have family there.

My father is from Pennsylvania (Bradford), and we're planning on going out for a family reunion in July.

Kinda makes this place seem a little more 'homey'!

Ooooh, a poll, I love polls, looks like I've come a bit late to the party, but anyway, I come from the city of Brighton on the south coast of the U.K.

Brighton, city of sun, sea, sex, and many other things beginning with 's'

Largest % of crack users outside London.
Largest % of yoga classes in U.K. (to come down off the crack maybe?)
Football team Brighton and Hove Albion (go 'seagulls')

8) World traveler. Father worked international construction (Left U.S.A. at age 8 returned at age 15). Retired from the U.S.A.F. after 20 + years service, (did some tours overseas also). Currently residing in San Diego CA. (Feels a bit strange what with all the Navy and Marines around here). (Who knows, the wonderer is in me). (Age and bad eye sight does become a factor however).

Thanks

I'm another proud Texan - specifically living in the very hot and very humid city of Houston where the British serving their country reportedly receive a hardship allowance due to the climate. We are on the same latitude as Cairo, Egypt and have an elevation of about 50 feet above sea level.

Since 3 or 4 month's I am a absolut NOD32-Fan / User!

I don't know if I ever gonna need this forum.. cause I never had any problems with NOD32... But maybe I can share my experience with this fantastic Antiv-Virus - Tool!

Greeting to all of you.....

PS:
I didn't find any forum which would fit for a introduction like this.. So I used the TEST-Forum .. Hope that's ok :-)

Well, NOW I know why I ended up here! I deleted my post, but -

Welcome Frank, this is the place I was trying to tell you about, when a dragon swooshed me here, leaving me to think I had magical powers!! Alas, no.

This forum isn't just for problems, though it is a great one for them, we like to see you come by and tell us your newest joke, a story to share, music to dance to, a place to meet friends and have fun at the end of a long day!

So, do drop in!! :)

Cheers!

I am looking arround in this forum for a while now.. and all post's are quit interesting... and the people here seem to be very polite. (Which I cannot say about EVERY forum I know.. but that's another story) ;)

Anyway.. I hope I can help as much as I can.. and Marja... You can bet on it.. You'll see some jokes from me.... :)

Btw.. I never learned english in school.. I teached it myself.. ... So please read my postings twice if you don't understand them... ;D

Good Morning!!! My name is Bob. I am on this site purely to read, learn, ask questions and hopefully figure out how to appropriately use my computer! My son, God bless him, gave his 'Computer Illiterate'(61 year old) Dad, a very nice Gateway computer, with a flat panel, LCD monitor, printer/fax/phone and had it hooked up to a BellSouth DSL ULTRA modem.( All I knew was that it was pretty and fast!) It is fully loaded with all the latest Norton protective devices and other things to protect it, and one day I'll find out from what?
This site popped up on my computer, even though my son said that the pop-up blocker was set at the highest setting and nothing should get through, so when this one did, I figured it must be very good so here I am filling out the form and really hoping to learn!
The form said to put some peronal stuff in so here goes. I am male, 61 years old, married for 41 years, 2 children( boy and girl) a retired Air Traffic Controller, live in Florida, and we & the house survived two hurricanes this year. I have a Bachelors Degree in Political and Professional Studies and I am a few credits short of my masters at the University of Miami. That's about it!

Detox,

Saw you're from Kyle. Nice little town west of I35, huh?

Been there. Lived in San Marcos for 3 years and Austin about 2 1/2. Fine, fine area, there.

I'm just north of downtown Houston. Concrete city, for sure.
