stop remote monitoring of computer

Hello,

I have a problem that may not be ,unfortunately, as rare as it may have been in the past.

Nosy landlords.

I think that they may have installed software to allow remote monitoring of my computer.

Is there any software that can block remote computer monitoring?

Just curious, why do you feel your landlord is spying on you? How did you come to the conclusion that he/she is monitoring what you do on your computer?

Do you own the computer or is it the property of your landlord? Because if you own the computer, and you are genuinely being spied on, then most likely your landlord is performing an illegal act (depending where you live) and you can just call the police and let them handle it.

Thanks for the reply, however, I would need proof of this.Based on feedback from other tenants, they believe that THEY have been spied on, based on remarks by the landlords on their surfing habits that the tenants would only have that information.
Any recommendations on software that can block this?

If they provide internet access for the building they could just be reading router logs of sites visited. I have setup several routers for companies that can log sites visited.

Your pc or not? Infrastructure, who owns and runs it?
If your landlord monitors your connection externally, no software will work except using encrypted traffic and anonymization proxies. Alternatively, you can install VMware Player, download the ready Browser Applicance Machine and use it to surf. Supposed to be secure and encrypted.

The same way the phone company knows who you've called. The answer was in the two post above your's.

We had this problem in our building here in LA. The IT department of the company that owns the building was of no help, so the building association used a computer privacy consulting firm called PrivacyNation to come in and button everybody down, so to speak. They were very professional and I learned a lot from them. I was a blackhatter at one time and it was good to see the white hats know what they were doing. They are a company, out of Dallas I believe, who travels all over, but even does consultations by phone and email. If you continue to have trouble, you might consider:
