View Full Version : Imaging Network Drives

Well, I had a shock this evening. I've been setting up a new computer which will be my primary. Being much faster, etc. than my older one which I still have uses for, I was going to run all my backups from/through this new one for both machines - networking the old one through the internet router I use.
However, TI, on the new machine, will only 'see' the networked drive of the old machine if I select a 'Files and Folders' type b/u, not an 'Entire Image' type b/u. If I select an 'Entire Image' type b/u, all TI gives me available is the new machine's local drives and the ext drive. Damn :'( !
No way around this? If not, I would definitely make it an addition to the wish list thread.

Hello mwilg,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).
We are very sorry for the delay with the response.
Please be aware that Acronis True Image 9.0 Home allows you to create disk\partition images of local hard drives only, i.e. hard drives connected directly to the computer where Acronis True Image itself is installed. If you want to be able to backup remote machines then we recommend that you use Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATICW/) or Acronis True Image 9.1 Enterprise Server for Windows (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/ATIESWin/) for your purposes (depending on which operating systems you use). These Acronis True Image versions allow one to install the special component named Acronis Agent on the remote machine and then perform the backup process remotely using Acronis Management Console. Thus, if you want to use Acronis True Image 9.0 Home to backup both your computers then the only way to do so is to install the software on both machines.
Please note that according to Acronis software licensing policy, you should purchase one copy of Acronis program per every computer where it will be used.
We also recommend that you download and install the free trial version(s) (http://www.acronis.com/download/) of the product(s) you are interested in to see how the software works on your particular software\hardware configuration.
You can find the detailed instructions on how to use the above mentioned products in the respective User's Guides (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/download/docs/).
Please visit Acronis online store (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/sales/online/) to purchase the full version(s) of the product(s).
If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/my/support/) or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.
Thank you.
