View Full Version : Resizing Partitions

I have True Image 8.0.
I removed a hard disk from one of my desktop systems and placed it in an external USB enclosure attached to another system, so that I could make a full backup of the disk to DVD.
After doing so, I restored the backup to a different disk drive. The first disk drive was 80GB and the second was 160GB. Everything works great but I ended up with only 80GB on the second hard disk because I couldn't find an option to resize the partition to a larger size during the restore operation.

I know that I have restored from 80GB to a 40GB partition size with V8.0 when I wanted to use a smaller disk.

Does V8.0 have the option to restore to a larger partition? Did I just miss something?

Thanks,
Tim

My restored disk is bootable but only 80GB out of 160GB are used.

I have TI V8, Windows.

Does this mean that I can put now create a secure zone in the unallocated space, then use the same wizard to delete the secure zone and add that free space to my 80GB partition?

YES. Takes 2 or 3 minutes. Neat or what?

Another way is to perform one more restoration on top of the first one, this time doing a partition restore. Unlike the disk restoration, a partition restore will give you the option to resize the partition(s) being restored.

That's how version 9 works, should be the same in v.8.
