Hi all. First post - woop woop

Vista Beta 2
Neo 4 Ultra Mobo
Maxtor Diamondmax SATA II 250GB HDD - Primary Drive
A CLEAN install of Vista.

When trying to create a Secure Zone, the system reboots, it says "Checking Partitions" then reports an error writing to a sector and gives options of Ignore, Retry, fail? (Not sure if it says fail) but am unable to do anything as the system appears to freeze at this point with the only option being to restart to which it then says "Acronis True Image - Finished" (Something similiar).

Does the "error writing to sector" indicate a HDD issue (Ive ran a full checkdisk with no faults found) or could it be something to do with vista... unable to write to the boot sector for some reason (A random guess)?

Thanks for any help provided.

James.

Hello Gimpymoo,
We are told that Vista in its beta version is not supported by True Image. I certainly would not try creating a secure zone under these conditions. You MIGHT be able to image your Vista installation and even restore it when booted from the TI rescue CD as you will be doing these operations not in Vista but in a Linux environment.
If anyone has done this I am sure they will join this thread.

Thanks for the reply.

I was not expecting any official support but was wondering if anyone else has been having the same problem and if there was a workaround.

The TI bootable media works just as well.

I was unable to burn directly to the CD in TI due the Windows CD service becoming corrupt.. so made an ISO and burned that to CD using http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

Well... I deleted the partition, created a new one, installed Vista from the previously created .tib which was saved on another HDD and the secure zone is now working OK. F11 boot and all. Must have been a corrupt partition.

ATI DOES work with Vista Beta (Well, does for me).
