My IMAP e-mail account is not being scanned.

I have two accounts via Outlook, IMAP and POP, the pop is being scanned fine by IMAP is not. I've even told the IMON to repair the connection in order to setitself up for the accounts but apperently it did nothing.

Also Script scanning would be a nice plus especially for vulernbilities and not all can be a virus some might be droppers. For example check this exploit out (non malicious just a proof of concept) (Norton and MacCrappe give a warnning before it executes ...and they stop it).

I tried that and IMON is really scanning just POP3 account. But anyway, AMON will protect you (if you would try to execute an infected file). I think Eset will soon add a support for scanning IMAP accounts.

When you installed Nod, did you enable that you wanted to scan IMAP as wel??


Otherwise:

Open the NOD32 scanner and click the setup tab. Under "System", you will find "Use MAPI interface".

Try "disable Mapi" followed by a reboot.

"Enable Mapi and again followed by a reboot.

I also have an IMAP account that does not get scanned because NOD32 does not have the capability to scan IMAP accounts at this time (per tech support). Maybe they can add IMAP scanning in a future component update.

I did not ask as to why but was told that IMAP email servers were not supported and the subsequent emails originating from such would not be scanned.

I was under the impression that mail server IMAP is not the same thing as MAPI. What do you think?

Well, i know that for instance Microsoft Outlook, which is MAPI, is being scanned by Nod.

Hi Martin, there are several threads on IMAP accounts with Nod32 V2, Nod presently does not scan an IMAP account, it has been put forward to be looked at by Eset.

even though I am an Nod32 user for over a year it looks like I will have to go towards Norton Real Time and NOD32 on demand since I would like to have SCRIPT and MAIL scanned. If they don't fix that then I guess there is no use in paying for my additional year since why do I need two antivirus scanners (I will keep NOD32 as on demand untill my subscription runsout).
I know all that Talk regarding (YES BUT NOD32 WILL CATCH IT ONCE IT GETS TO YOUR SYSTEM)...but that's the point I DON"T WANT IT TO GO THAT FAR...also if a script decides to download a program that is not currently detected by the anti-virus then the program will run in my system untill the update comes...BUT if there is a script blocker then no such thing will be downloaded and thus no worries.

I am sorry to say but if those two things are not fixed then I am going to the dark side....I need IMAP since that's what is being used for my mail.

I too am eagerly awaiting IMAP support. At present I am having to forward mail from an IMAP account to a POP account and only collect mail from the POP account - that was it is scanned. Maybe I should just consider an AV that scan's IMAP and then I can disable this cludge that I am currently running just to get NOD32 to scan my mail.

I agree - the stock answer seems to be well ANON will catch it when you try and run the infected file - I want it detected and stopped before this point. NAV 2004 takes it a step further in that it scans downloads as they are being downloaded - IMO anything that stops the virus earlier is another line of defence.

With IMAP the mail stays on the server untill you open it, so you won't have any mail on your system to be scanned.
