Is there a way to cut off my internet connection without touching my modem, my router and my firewall.
I was thinking of an ON/OFF setting somewhere in winXPproSP2 and that keeps its value even after reboot, until I change it manually.
Thanks in advance.

To switch off: Control panel>Network connections. Right click on the connection of interest and select Disable.
To switch on: Do the same again but select Enable as the last step

If you can use the DUN connection to prompt you, then all you need to do is launch your browser or press Go/Enter if you have a page on standby after disconnection, and your off.

To disconnect just right click the icon in the tray and click on disconnect. It doesn't make any difference if your on broadband or dial up, MS call it DUN. I always use this system, and with the not saved password protection, just in case someone else tried to use it.

Thanks StevieO, but SpikeyB's method isn't complicated either.
I installed a shortcut on my Desktop and an icon in my system tray.
Having the possibility to do this is more important than how to do this.
In the past I used my modem to turn ON/OFF my internet connection, but my modem is attached to the wall now and not on my computer table anymore.
I often turn my internet off, if I don't really need it. :)
I always know what I want and need, but I often don't know how to do it. LOL.
