outlook 2003 not sending mails

I have configured outlook 2003 to read Gmail according to their suggestions
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13278
but it wont send neither reply. the sent messages remain in the outbox. any help please. Thanks

Hi clique,

Do you by chance have "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" checked on the fourth screenshot?
If yes this might be your problem.

To send mail you may need to use the smtp service of your isp. Ive seen it before with other situations ex. sending email through another ISP than your own.
