Hello,
I just downloaded the latest version of Winamp and I chose to not send anonymous statistics to them... however, looking at this website: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=238838 I am undecided if I should keep Winamp or not... can someone offer their advice?
Thanks! :)
Gracie

like the dev person said, its not spyware and u can easily disable the offending features.
if u like winamp, then keep it and try not to be too paranoid :)

Hi :), okay... yeah, I like it for listening to online radio. Curious though, do you see a problem using the Online Services? I really like those features....
Thanks again,
Gracie

i'm always careful when i use Winamp because some of its addons have spyware. here are some links for online radio which can be listened to without Winamp.
http://www.radiofeeds.co.uk/
http://streams.coolbegin.com/
you can right-click and save this icon ---> http://www.shoutcast.com/images/tunein.gif to your hardrive from the shoutcast link below. then if it's a 24/7 stream you can tune in whenever you like. i think these are the same stations Winamp uses

http://www.live365.com/index.live
http://www.google.com/Top/Arts/Music/Sound_Files/MP3/Streaming/Stations/
http://punkcast.com/
i like this stream when it plays ambient stuff -
http://www.somafm.com/groovesalad.pls
it's from this site -

if you just want a radio player with preinstalled stations these two players are very good fro Windows
http://www.viddiradioplayer.com/
http://www.screamer-radio.com/
these are good if you use Linux - streamtuner streamripper

here's a screenshot of streamtuner

I use winamp. I have been Using it since version 2.80, I don't use any addons. I scan for spyware quite a lot, I haven't found anything in winamp yet. I used to get these tracking cookies from wxx.live365.com they were found by AD-Aware SE, at the time I wasn't using Winamp or any music player.
