Do i need to use a firewall when i have NOD32?

Firewall is first line of defense, so yes you need one.

Yes I would recommend a firewall and if you are new to fire walls I would recommend a permit or deny based fire wall until you become familiar with rule based firewall as they can become complex in the rule making and understanding protocalls. There are just to name a few ...

My siggestion to you to start off with would be Zone Alarm free or Sygate
