Has ewido 4.0 development being suspended?
There hasnt been a new version for a while now.

If the development has been suspended ,does this mean that the product is going to be discontinued?

I think they are working on the bugs and development will be continued. But it has been a month since 4.0.0.151 was released and no further builds were released. Not sure if development of 4.0 beta will be politically affected by Grisoft. It may be time for Peter or Vinzenz or Karl to speak something on the progress.

90 issues resolved, 40 to go
and what they are doing themselves, so nothing suspended I think ;)

Good, I would hate to lose a valuable piece of software, not that version 3.5 is anything to sneeze at.

Why...? If there are so many changes to a piece of software, that often needs some serious debugging. Without internal testing, you cannot just give it to the volunteer beta testers.

I wouldn't want to beta test software that has not been seriously tested by the developers first.

I agree but the beta testing has begun already and new versions should ne normally introduced every week or so.

I am not sure the best policy and approach for beta testing, but you can see different practices for different software vendors.

For KAV/KIS, a new build was release every day or every 2-3 days.

For Windows Defender, new beta refresh or new builds were released every few months.

For A-Squared beta 2.0, new builds were also released every 2-3 days, for the time being (not sure the frequency at a later stage).

Even though some betas were extensively tested in house or in public, problems might still occurred during the RC stage. A good example would be the 5000 engine of McAfee. The 5000 engine has been beta tested for almost 8 months but still, it got problems when it was in RC, so that 5100 would replace the 5000 engine and the final release was postponed several months later.

So what would be the best policy for releasing new beta builds?

Beta testing is not a MUST.
Where did you read that "every week or so" is normally?

Are you a member of the Ewido 4.0 development team?

I have been using 3.5 and watching 4.0 to see if I should switch over. Is it time to give it a try?

I have been doing the same.

My recommendation is to wait until the beta software is updated. That is unless you wish to experience the bugs that have already been reported in 151 plus. ;)

Well maybe he's comparing with A Squared who's rebuilding like everything in 2.0... new interface's, new scanner engine, new detections, new guard and everything. I get atleast 10mbs a day from downloads from a squared. I think ewido will make the drastic changes in a version coming up or their final release.
