You can backup (create a backup image) of your C: drive onto your C: drive * BUT * you cannot restore from it while it still resides on that drive. The image must be moved elsewhere first. The restore will erase the drive first, which of course, would also delete the image if it was still there.

Hello jupetcell,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).
Please note that in case you have only one hard drive and you would like to store you backups there you can create Acronis Secure Zone on this hard drive. Acronis Secure Zone is a hidden protected partition on the hard disk drive. This partition is inaccessible by the operating system and applications other than Acronis True Image, therefore, you can be sure that the disk images stored there are secure and cannot be altered.
In this case you will be able to create the image of the entire hard drive, store in to Acronis Secure Zone and then later restore this image archive. You will not need additional storage device in this case.
Please read more information on how to use Acronis True Image 9.0 Home can be found in the Acronis True Image 9.0 Home User Guide (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/download/docs/).
Thank you.
