Normally I get daily about 10 spam mails. Mostly about I need drugs to make my girlfriend happy.
However the last 4 days I only get 1 or 2 a day and nothing about drugs.
Does it mean I am healed :D or something else?

Can i ask how are they getting your Gmail email details to spam them.

As for example i have one gmail account with a very unusual email address. That i have not used in over a year since registering with it,

When i checked it last week for the first time in that year it was reaming with Spam. I never gave out this email address. So i am confused how this has happend. As email guessing programs wouldnt have likely came up with this one.

I have really no idea. Maybe a good idea will be to use gmail more frequently and forward the mails to your private email adres. The spam filter from gmail is a rather good one.
As an update on my post from june 4th I am now into Rolex and Stocks, but only 2 mails a day ;)

if you use Thunderbird's spam filtering here is a nice add on:

http://www.ibiblio.org/shadow/okopipi/

that assists reporting to Spamcop. This at east gives me some hope that the spammers will be shutdown eventually.

Read the setup instructions carefully. I didn't set it up right at first.

Altho I don't use their service, SpamFighter says this in their FAQs:-{ Quote: "If I don't give out my email address, will I avoid spam?
This is a well known myth. Of course that strategy will have some impact in the short run, but over a longer period spammers will get your address one way or another. It just takes one message in a guest book, one post in a newsgroup, one on-line product purchase, or one subscription to a newsletter, and your address can be shared and sold all over the web. For less than $100 spammers can buy 15 million email addresses and soon your address will be among them, sadly..." }-

I find that if your email add is like xxx.xxx@gmail.com, you will have no spam.
Have no spam for over a year with this format.

My son has a googlemail account and recently complained to me about spam. There was no spam at first, for months, but now hes been getting between 5-10 daily about drugs like in the first post. He said it started not long after he tried out the google page maker which made me wonder if this contributed as the address is included in the page name.
Anyway we've banished it for now so we will see.

Watch out for those bots and report spam.:)
