I've just spent the last 2 days building my dream PC. It's taken months to prepare (ie choosing the components and reading up info)because I am a newbie at this. Everything has been done. I'm about to transfer all my data from my old PC to new but first I need to partition the new HD using Acronis. I've installed windows on the new PC.

I bought the Acronis Directors suite and True image via download onto my old pc and bought specifically for this new PC. The download is on my old PC. I copied directors suite onto a cd and then copied it onto the desk top of the new pc. I tried to open it and was told the snapapi.dl . was missing. I searched the forum.

I copied the dll file from c system and moved it into the Acronis folder. I also downloaded updated drivers as suggested in another thread. I tried to open the directors suite folder on the new pc and am now told I did not have the necessary director suite modules.

Is there a solution please? Acronis obviously does not like me copying it on to a cd and will not copy onto my new pc. Months of prep. and I'm being delayed by a programme I paid $100 for. Unbelievable.

How am I going to get the acronis I've got on my old pc transferred to my new pc so I can partition it when it won't let me copy it onto a cd?

Hello Baz63,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/) and Acronis Partition and Disk Managing Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/).

We are very sorry for the delay with the response.

Please be aware that in order to install Acronis software on your new computer you should not just copy the files of the already installed program from your old machine but install the software anew using the corresponding installation file. The point is that the respective registry entries are not being transferred when you simply copy the files. It applies not only to Acronis software but to the majority of modern Windows-based applications.

You can always download the latest build (the full installation file) of the corresponding Acronis product from the Product Updates (https://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/updates/) section of your account at Acronis web site. To get access to updates you should create an account (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/) then log in and use your serial number(s) to register the software.

Please also note that according to Acronis software licensing policy, you should purchase one copy of Acronis program per every computer where it will be used.

You can find more information on how to use the software in the respective User's Guides (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/download/docs/).

If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/support/) or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.

Thank you.
