Hi,
I would like that the v4.0 will close like the v3.5, instead of remaining on system tray...
At least I think that we should have an option for that...

Right click on the systray icon and click on exit.

I already know that, but I want that when I close the ewido window, close the ewido and its tray icon...

I honestly don't see a point to this as what if the user accidentally exits out of the main ewido window, this closing both that window and the system tray icon? I don't think the user would be happy to have to reload the guard etc..

I don't want to have the guard or the auto-update enabled, so I don't want any tray icon of ewido, like ewido 3.5 and so many applications out there that have an option to have it or not, for example SUPERAntiSpyware.

Have you tried just "changing the state" of the Resident Shield and the Automatic updates from the Ewido main interface to "inactive", and rebooting and seeing if loads?

Well then, I guess the only way is to just let the trial run out so it won't startup :-\ ???

I thought you might of had a trial version of Ewido..Then all I can think of is using msconfig to disable those entrys from starting up :-\

I have another idea:
Let the guard run and then right click on it in the system tray and uncheck the "Resident Shield & Automatic Updates" then uncheck "Start with Windows" and then exit and reboot. And now see if it loads up.

I'm not saying that the ewido tray icon starts on windows startup or that the "Resident Shield & Automatic Updates" are running, but that the ewido tray icon starts when I launch the ewido and remain on the tray icon when I close the main window of ewido.
I just want that the tray icon never appear, or at least closes when I close the main window of ewido.

I am sorry I misunderstood your problem, I do not think you can do what you want to do even if you disable it, well it did not on my system when I disabled it, it starts Gray in the Tray [they rhyme :)], the same as yours so that will not make it exit when you close it, there is probably or might be reg key that might make it do as you require.

PS: Probably is what my Sig is almost saying. ;)

That's a matter of personal taste I think. I want it to stay in the systray and I don't want to close ewido when clicking the x in the upper right corner.
Did you already try to hide it?
To your other statement of ewido guys not showing up here: they are pretty busy with fixing bugs and enhencements. Still 44 items on the list yet.

Like I said, an option will be great for all...
I don't use the "Hide Inactive Icons" of Microsoft...

The latest version of Windows Defender has an option if we want the icon to show in the systray or not. I like this a lot, since I have already 15 items in my systray, and most of them I really don't need.
I'd find it very useful to have a similar option in ewido 4.0, to optionally show the guard icon in the systray.

@pwillener:
8.) Short Keys Lite
- click tray icon
- select Options -> Preferences
- uncheck option "Place in system tray"
14.) volume control
- open control panel
- select sounds & audio
- uncheck option "Display volume control in system tray"
I don't know about the others, because I just have nod32, ewido and the clock sitting in the tray, but you might want to do the following:
- right-click task bar or start button
- select "properties"
- select "disable inactive icons"
- select adjust to manually disable the other icons

Thanks for the advice: two down. (Most people will probably want to keep the Volume icon, but since I don't want any sounds coming from this office computer, I will not lose anything by disabling it).
Re "disable inactive icons" - I have WinXP, which shows only "hide incactive icons" - which I have already set.

The developers have stated repeatedly that it will take a while to get build 152 out. Don't get impatient...
Also I remember the complaints in this forum during the first weeks when the builds came out too quickly :D

Found that right-clicking on the Ewido icon in the systray, then selecting 'Exit' will remove the icon from the systray, but keep the guard active.
I don't know if this is the intended behavior, but it suits me fine.

In Defender version 1.1.1347.0 go to
Tools -options - scroll to real time protection options. It's the last option in that section.
This choice wasn't available in the previous Defender version.

That is strange aigle. I cannot remember which I did to be honest.
The first was over the top of anti-spy and then the beta upgrade.
I may have done custom, sometimes I like to choose things myself. Perhaps other Defender users can help us here with this one.
Do other Defender users out there have the options I have, or none like aigle. If so which type of install did you use, custom or default.

Hey folks! On that settings page for Defender, you have to use the scroll bar to get to those other settings. I overlooked it myself for days before I found them, but they should be in the lower part of that screen if you scroll down. I don't have Defender anymore, but when I did, I used the default installation. BTW- since I uninstalled it, the only thing I miss are the headaches it caused.

If that is still the problem?
I am still running Ewido trial V4.0.0.172
HAven't got around to uddating to AVG yet ;)
Turn the Ewido antispyware guard or what ever the AVG component service is to manual.
I open and close Ewido for scanning and updates manually, the sys tray icon appears then dissappears with open/close.

{QUOTE-> Very bad support for a simple issue. :thumbd: <-QUOTE}Does your support inquiry concern the post you made here (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=873324#post873324) ?
Edit
On second thought I'll assume the answer is yes to my above question considering "AVG developers" was mentioned. Having said that and in all fairness to ewido support....if users have questions\comments about a present version....feel free to start a thread in our ewido anti-spyware forum (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=81) concerning AVG Anti-Spyware.
We'll now bring this beta thread to a close and if ewido support wishes to respond they can do so freely.

This feature request is on our whish list for the next build, I hope and think it will be included. It will then, depending on whether the software is starting with windows or not, close the app to the tray or completely.
