I am having trouble running a Normal and Full System Scan. In the File Scan, when it gets to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search
it stops scanning. The last time I tried to scan was last night just before I went to bed and when I woke up this morning, it was stopped at the same place. Can someone please help me? I have no problems with the Quick Scan.

Hello sweetspud and welcome!
For a test, can you try to exclude in the scan settings that folder from the scan and see if you get through it then?
So we can try to find out if there is anything special in that folder blocking the scan.

Have you looked in the logs for TDS-3 to see if there is any further information in there?

Spybot folders are a bit different from the normal type files in that they maybe locked or password protected in someway. NOD32 is always telling me this anyway. On my machine TDS-3 doesn't have any troubles with Spybot.

Worth trying to scan that folder individually and look for any messages. In the meantime am searching for somebody else's problem related with an unscannable partition or directory long time ago.

Just tried mine with no problems:

10:21:03 [File Scan] Scanning in c:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.1 ...
10:21:11 [File Scan] Scanned 272 files: 0 alarms in 7.15625 seconds (Avg 39.01 files/sec)
10:21:11 [Scan] Finished.

I am wondering if it is anything to do with Spybot's immunise function which I have not invoked on this PC?

Hmmm i can scan it without problems too, not immunizited either; but TDS should jump around it and continue scanning the rest not stp; or does it take very long to scan there, is it all very filled with large backup files?

The full system scan is the heaviest task there is and can take a while, depending on the situation of the system so don't use unnecessary other tasks at the same time and don't give the system change to get into sleep mode.
It's windows falling asleep if we don't use it, has nothing to do with TDS freezing the system.
If you scan your download folder with large compressed programs that may take a while and might seem like nothing is happening but there is activity as it does get further. But it's not necessary every day so we can live with those scans.

Thank you very much Jooske, linney, Pilli and Mr. Blaze for coming to my rescue. :)

I have added Spybot to my Scan Exclusions list and now I am able to run a Normal System Scan. Haven't tried the Full System Scan yet so wish me luck. lol

I did want to try and scan the Spybot folder by itself but was wondering if someone would walk me through the steps on how to do it?

Thank you again for helping this total "newbie."

sweetspud hi :)

To scan a particular folder.

1: Open TDS Main GUI
2: On Menu Bar: System Testing/Scan Control..... [Ctrl S]
3: In left Window Dbl Click on: Disk/File Scan Browse.....
4: This brings up a window of your system.
5: Dbl Click on Program Files, look for SypbotS&D Folder, Dbl click it to highlight it and it add all contents of the folder in the right pane.
6: On Top Right Click ADD
7: Close that window via X
8: You will now see in the right pane of the original Scan Control.... the Spybot Folder
9: Hit the Button SCAN just below that right widow pane and it scans the folder....

OR:

Navigate to the Spybot Folder itself via Windows Explorer, then simply Right Click and choose "Scan with TDS"

THE EASY WAY ;D

right click on the folder itself... :)

EDIT/NOTE: I run SpybotS&D along with TDS3 [of course] with no problems at all.

In Spybot, I do have the IMMUNIZE Option checked and on.

No conflicts at all.... :) Just lucky!

Hope this helps sweetspud :)

Cheers TAS!

It certainly deserves a place in a thread instructing how to scan with TDS.
Crystal clear images you made for us!
