His first venue, the legendary Fillmore Auditorium, was home to many of rock's greatest performers - Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Prince - and the list goes on and on.

The spotlight is on the Fillmore East this week. Among other East shows this week we have:

Tracks from the New Riders and The Grateful Dead from a 1971 appearance.
More from Sly & The Family Stone's great October 1968 show." }-

I first saw the Grateful Dead April 29th 1971 at the Filmore East. The Riders with Jerry on pedal steel started at 8:00 PM, we got out at 3:30 AM after the 3rd encore. What a long strange trip it's been.

i still mourn the day Jerry left us.
