Why doesn't ESET create a web-based free online scanner ?

The school of thought here is that there's a free 30 day full feature trial version of NOD32 available for download -->HERE (http://www.nod32.com.au/nod32/download/download.htm)<--
Much better in my opinion than a web based scanner would ever be.
Or if somebody just wanted to test a couple of files they could try http://www.virustotal.com/
Cheers :)

and when performing a scan with an online scanner you are also prompted to download a part of the engine, than the signatures.... and you better download the installer and you have it free for 30 days to protect your computer even on-access not only on-demand which is all an online scanner can do. ;)

It was in joking reference to the post above it which said it's better to download a trial version.:)
Only problem with a trial version is the trial runs out, an online scanner can be accessed anytime.

Better to trial a solution and after you have satisfied yourself then go ahead and buy it I think.
If you just need to test a file before you run it because you have no on-demand or on-access protection, or if you want a second opinion then virustotal does that already.
Cheers :)
