when I go here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/
I get:
Object not found!
I use "manual" download so as to update and burn to CD
Also
In support, specifically here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/support/?AID=26
(I have a problem with the online-update...)
The word "get" has been spelt "geht" (first line)

I hope that means that the installer for the complete signatures will be returned to the web site. IMO that is one of Ewido's great features, because you can download the program installer and the signature installer to a CD to use on a PC that's had its Internet connection broken by malware. I would hate to see that feature go away. I have used it to rescue a couple of PC's.
I don't even see a place on the new web site where you can download updates.

Hi,
Ewido haven't responded on this thread since April 18.
Moreover, this page hasn't been available for four days now:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/
There is no link to the manual updates anywhere on the new site.
Can someone give us an authoritative response to these three questions:
1. Is the freeware version of Ewido still available?
2. Will manual updates resume and, if yes, when?
3. Should we continue to monitor this page:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/updates/
Or is there another URL we should all floxck to?
Thank you for an unequalled product!
G.

@1. The free version is still available.
@2. You still can update via Update => Start update
@3. I can't tell you at the moment. But this is not necessary since you can still get updates as mentioned in @2

ok, so at this stage I need to
# Run an update (using program)
# Copy signature folder to CD
# Re-install Program
# Over-write Signature folder from CD to program install folder
# Continue doing this, whilst checking if update link has decided to come back!
# Start again from top
It seems a little involved, could you address this to your ceo's (!) that this is what brought people to your site originally. (well me!)
By the way, nearly all leading Antivirus & Spyware companies have manual update freely distributable, and I don't think they are losing profit over it, actually probably the reverse.
Being a techo (as most here posting no doubt) I download ALL updates from multiple companies freely, except at this stage from yours (or theirs!)

I don't understand why you're going to all that trouble. If you have the free version of Ewido already installed, all you have to do is activate a manual check for updates and they install themselves. You don't need to download anything to a CD unless you want to put it onto a computer that doesn't have Ewido installed or can't connect to the Internet because of malware. This is the same update process offered by all freeware anti-malware programs and works much better and faster that any other I know.

Hi Kim,
See http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=697224&postcount=5 by peter.ewido (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=697224&postcount=5). The download is now simplified and easier to retrieve automatically (scripted).
Have fun.

I download the manual updates here (at work) where we have 2 meg Broadband (but dont used Ewido) and take them to my home computer which has only 56K 'Pay as you go' Dial up, and is 'on line' only once a week.
So I need to download the full database quickly.
Manual updates are essential!!!. When are they comming back?

They are still there:

and

I would suggest (as a satisfied Ewido customer) that Ewido supply to me and other customers a webpage at www2.ewido.net/en/ , where the manually download is mentioned. It would be very nice to be able to download the two files, so they could be transported (via USB-memory-stick) to an infected PC without Internet access.
Ewido's website had the links available before You changed the webdesign. I got used to this feature and I miss it very much.
Thanks in advance.

I'd like to see the page back too, rather than just direct links to files, pretty please?
Updating from within the program works fine for me, with one exception. It doesn't check for a new cumulative update, so even if one has been issued it simply adds new incrementals to the ones I already have.
Someone here kindly pointed out that if there is a new cumulative, the old "last few days" update on the website would be several megs to include that, and the size and checksum info were clearly shown on the page.

That is why I will always support such a great product like Ewido, great customer support, great product. I too was lost about the link for manual updates, don't use it much, but I have had to in the past when I got infected on one of my networked machines that the kids work on, and it was a manual update that allowed me to get them back up, cleaned and online. Thanks again for a great product...
