Anyone use ''Spyware Doctor''?

My Spyware program subscription will be coming up in a few months. The programs that look good to me are:

Spysweeper
Spyware Doctor
CounterSpy

Spyware Doctor is the only one that I have not tried previously. Anyone have experience with this program?

I tried Spyware Doctor about a year ago and, frankly, didn't like it. It seemed to step all over what I was trying to do in a typical work day. I also became aware that my anti-virus program (McAfee) performed the same essential Trojan detection; thus, I uninstalled Spyware Doctor and never looked back. Spyware detection now is purely passive -- A2, Spybot, and occasional HJT and Rootkit Revealer scans. Never had a problem outside of occasional false positives plus A2's dislike of real.com's cookie. Judging from reviews that I have read in various mags (e.g., PC World), Spyware Doctor apparently has improved with time, but I have no temptation to renew.

The issue of necessity and sufficiency of anti-Trojan defense is discussed in other posts around this, and in other forums. Nothing more that I can add in this area.

I use Spyware Doctor, latest version 3.8.0.1557. It seems very effective to me and does not step over anything I am trying to do. I like the fact that it includes Mozilla Firefox in terms of some of the browser protection features. I've got one small beef with it but developers promise that the very next release will in fact reduce the utility's memory footprint in Windows. Spyware Doctor has received high praise from the experts and I personally find it well worth the license fee. There are a few good utilities out there these days so I suppose it's up to you. :)

:) S-D is a very nice program. If you'd like to try two superb trials that are fully functional, try "Ashampoo" and "Spinach", both developed by German titans in the industry. They are not reported near enough by folks in the U.S., but my first choice of all is Ashampoo, 2nd. SpySweeper and 3rd C-Spy, with Spinach a 1 1/2.

I was using Spyware Doctor and SpySweeper. One in real time the other on demand. Spyware Doctor didn`t find anything that Spysweeper didn`t so I decided to only go with the one program and I took SpySweeper. Now since I started using Online Armor, SpySweeper is on demand only and it hasn`t found anything, so I think that`ll get taken off too and just go with OA.

Why do you like Ashampoo's antispyware ? Is it light on resources? How good is it compared to the likes of SuperAntispyware and ZeroSpyware?

Ashampoo is so tight on its own security that anyone retrieving a stolen serial/key will be disabled immediately upon def retrieval.

Low resource utilization, fine scan speed and heavy on def base. Having used Super and Zero I feel Ashampoo is as good. Incidentally, I left off Ewido by mistake and I feel it's in a tie with Spinach, especially since it's very heavy on signatures and scans an unusual amout of files.






Behave and be good, for you can't do one without the other.;)

I have had no problems with Spyware Doctor and I am quite happy with it, my Spysweeper has just run out and I on the whole was not happy with it and I am running a trial on Counterspy, so far so good.:)
