New to the forum. Just bought TI.
I am changing out hard drives on my laptop. I imaged from my old hdd to my usb external drive OK. I then made the bootable CD, changed my bios to read the CD first, then installed the new hdd. I booted up with the CD and it read the external drive OK. However the clone wizard says it can't do anything because it can only find one drive (obviously the usb one). I'm assuming my new hdd works (although I wouldn't know how to check it.) So where do I go from here? In the meantime I have to put my old hdd in to finish my taxes...and I was really looking forward to getting this hdd switch out of the way.
Thanks for any help.

Since you already imaged your old hard disk you could just restore the image to the new hard disk with the new hard disk installed as the master and the old disk can be left out of the system. This method has nothing to do with cloning.

Cloning is different than restoring an image . The clone function was designed to be used in a disk to disk fashion. So all you need to do is connect up both drives to the machine using your original as master and the new disk as a slave. Then boot the machine off of the bootable CD rom and clone your hard drive. Do not boot up with both drives installed after cloning. Rather, disconnect the old drive and replace it with new one.

Since you already made an image of the old drive, after installing the new drive you have to use the Restore feature ... not the Clone feature. Try Restoring first rather than going back to try Cloning. Cloning seems to have it's own unique set of unpredictable problems. Imaging will be more successful.
