Italian Internet users who click on banners offering tempting bargains may be in for a shock, police warned after uncovering a major consumer scam.
The scam's victims had clicked on seemingly innocuous pop-up advertisement banners on their computer screens, only to find that their telephone bills doubled, or even tripled, as a result.
