Does anyone use Command Personal AV, just changed from NAV to Command and would like feedback.

I have trialed Command AV in the last month or so, as it was given away for free with a PC Magazine here in the UK. This is an annual event to try and attract Home users.

Advantages

* Low effect on system resources and there was no drag even on this lowly Pentium II box.

*It uses the F-Prot engine so virus detection should be good. However, has more fails than passes on virus bulletin, but record over the last year or so has improved.

* Easy to update, and speed of on-demand scanner was very fast.

Disadvantages

* Main GUI has not changed in a long time and it looks very dated now. Worse than Dr Web!

* As with F-Prot, Command AV is a stripped- down AV, with some features missing e.g. password protection, e-mail scanning( only scans Outlook). The price is relatively high therefore for this spartan set of features, although the price has dropped considerably of late in the UK

However, it is probably a better choice than NAV on an older box.

Seems a little used AV for home users but I know some friends who do use it at work and it seems more popular in the commercial/network field.

As a free AV it would be worth using but if you compare it with other commercial programs there are better alternatives.

I am sure that Technodrome use(s)(d) Command AV who can give you more information.

I seem to remember somewhere that our very own Paul used Command av (or used to) :)

I just uninstalled NAV and my system is performing better already so it looks like Command just won that battle.
