What is Maintenance?

Acronis Maintenance and Priority Support (1 year subscription) gives you the ability to get extra services and SAVE up to 80%! (Savings based on a list price of newer version releases compared with the price of Acronis Maintenance and Priority Support).

For the period of subscription Acronis will provide software updates and upgrades for your product for free, and will provide access to phone-based technical support, email-based technical support and web-based support resources for the Software. Coverage for technical support services, software updates and upgrades begins on the date of your purchase.

there you have it. if you buy maintenance, it [the maintenance] is up to 80% cheaper than having to actually buy the new version. currently the maintenance fee is something around $139, while the upgrade is $399. not really 80%, but then, who knows, acronis might release more than one new version during the maintenance year.
