Help Request: Bootlog.TXT Fixing Errors.

Hi:

I found a program yesterday that performs an analysis of Bootlog.txt and displays the results. From the results, it is evident that several devices are not loading in my PC during Bootup and this is causing delay. if anyone can help me either here or suggest any special help forum for this, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Yea I figured you was on Win9x/ME, since you mentioned Bootlog.txt.

A lot of those Dynamic load failures because of missing .vxd files should be easily cleaned using System Mechanics http://www.iolo.com/ :D

Using "Clean system Registry" Feature, try that and draw up another bootlog and paste and we’ll continue further…

Doesn’t System Mechanic offer cleaning in the 30-Day Trail-ware? ???

I have used other registry cleaners, temp/unwanted file cleaners like jv16 etc., all detected errors were corrected. So, if system mechanic does the same thing, then I wonder if it can help. Looks like this problem may have to be solved manually.

Problem Solved. Thanks for the suggestion Phantom.

Here is an article I found in this regard:

After reading the article, I went to win.ini in msconfig. There I had still choosen several devices like old printers etc., that were no longer in use. Windows was checking for all these at startup and probably causing a lot of delay. I unselected them all. Then I tried to boot several times. Here are the results: To start windows and get to the password screen it takes 90 seconds from when I turn the PC on. This is not bad at all !!!

Now, I have 4 other programs setup to load at startup. To load these, it takes another 60 seconds. So, it takes 2.5 minutes in all to bootup !! (I can't complain about the extra 1 minute due to startup porgrams. If I had more programs, it will probably take a lot longer.

Anyways, this is a far cry from the 8 or minutes total time before. :) :) :)

Is it wrong for others to know our ISP ? How can this be avoided ? (I use a Proxy sometimes, but it doesn't seem to work always)
