For those who do not know Rose SWE. This site offers many nice anti virus tools for expert users most of them as freeware. Mr. Rose has really interessting stuff on his homepage which is worth checking out. :)

I got to the page all right from the existing link, above, but got an 'illegal cookie warning from Opera: "The server tried to set an illegal cookie. The combination of the server's hostname and the domain attribute for this cookie is not acceptable, and the cookie has therefor been rejected.

You might want to ask the site's Webmaster to set legal cookies.

well, the url to the homepage is correct. I was referring only to the download link provided on the page.

Underscores are not exactly what my browser loves...and cookies are disabled :). So anybody with a working link to the download section of Mr.Roses apps?

For all that encounter the same url problem, I found a link to what seems to be MrRoses elist at yahoo.

Btw, has anybody seen any results on how good this heuristic approach is? Any testing?

There have never been any tests published of his software. I'll guess nearly nobody knows Mr. Rose and his software as he is doing no marketing. ;)

I think none of his application can replace a first class commercial scanner but expert users might find some helpfull tools on his site. :)

His software is VERY well known. But only under a few people :o).

You think so? Compare the heuristic abilitys of WormGuard with f_mirc or RHBVS.

There are several testings. Ralph Roth takes part at nearly every testing of the VTC Hamburg. RHBVS for example catched over 80% of the latest test of the VTC using heuristics only.

hello RR I like the heuristic scanner approach. May I ask has the VirScan Plus been tested along side other scanners to compare its detection ability.
