I am attempting to partition a USB drive. When I select Operations|Commit, Disk Director says it needs to reboot.

Upon reboot, it says it cannot find the drive to check. I assum e this is because it is a USB drive.

Do you have to physically install HDs to IDE cables in order to partition them?

Thanks,

Jim

Hello Jim,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Partition and Disk Managing Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/).

Yes, you can try to install this drive directly using the IDE cable. Actually, Acronis Disk Director Suite should not require a reboot in the situation which you have described.

In order to help us in resolving this issue please download the latest version of Acronis drivers (http://download.acronis.com/support/SnapAPI.219_s_e.exe ), install it with disabled logging and see if the problem still persists.

If the problem still persists then enable logging by running the Acronis drivers installation package once again, reproduce the problem and collect the c:\snapapi.log file.

Please also do the following:

- Download and unpack the Device Tree (http://www.acronis.com/files/support/devicetree.zip) application:
- Run the application;
- Completely unfold the \Driver\Disk and \Driver\FtDisk branches;
- Move the margin to the right in order to see all the items;
- Make a screen shot.

Please also create Acronis Report and Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317) and submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/support/). Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.

Thank you.

Thanks for you help. I downloaded the new drivers and that solved the problem. I did have to install them in Safe mode - it didn't like something I had running in Normal mode. I guess I should have looked for new drivers before I posted...

It did the partition and didn't require a reboot.
