How to test NOD / Lovsan?

Here's the scoop - We've deployed NOD32 throughout our network, but I have people saying "What about people who aren't on the network and getting timely updates?"

My question(s):
IF an infected user docks their laptop on my network and receives the definition updates, when (or how soon) will NOD detect it?

I'd recommend to perform an immediate on-demand scan when he receives the def. updates - it can be set up via the scheduler.

AMON would detect the malware when it would try to do the following action with any file under NOD's reach (if AMON is set up correctly): open, create, execute, or if the user would try to perform the 3 mentioned actions with an infected file.
