Hello,

this crappy error is getting on my nerves..i really dont get it

on some installations like Cyberlink PowerDVD i'm getting this error
i checked the RPC service and the one is always running and the second i manually started.. still nogo

i know about this site: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q224370

this solution does not apply for Win XP Pro .. however i checked for example:
start,run: net start rpcss
service is already running

could someone help me out on this?
is it coming from that tool: "WWDC" by closing port 135 DCOM?

normally i manage to fix anything but this sh*t is driving me nuts hehe ;)

So if your looking for someone to nudge you to temporarily disable WWDC selections....that's my best shot :o

hey guys :)

first i fired up WWDC.. enabled DCOM(135) and Enable LOCATOR(445)
rebooted
fireup services.msc
started DCOM server process launcher (i cant really remember if i started service bfore install?!)

powerdvd installed fine now though hehe! :)
then i checked services and noted that the DCOM server process launcher still was trying to start

my guess its WWDC..anyway all up&running..cant do whitout me powerdvd

its windows worm door cleaner (http://www.firewallleaktester.com/wwdc.htm), and its a small tool that makes ur xp a bit more secure by disabling messenger, dcom, and a few other services.
