" Imagine this situation:

Someone sent you a zip file with infected files in it.
You scan that zip file and your Kaspersky Antivirus reports nothing infected.
You unzip files, and since you are assured that everything is clean, you start the file that is infected by a virus that destroys your hard-disk!

Is this a dangerous situation?
Kaspersky Lab Technical Support Team doesn't think so!

The problem is that Kaspersky Antivirus doesn't scan archives when you click on them with your right mouse button and choose Kaspersky Antivirus Scanner from the menu.

I really wanted to help Kaspersky Lab Team to solve this problem, but it seems that they don't care about it.

So, I decided to warn everyone who has Kaspersky Antivirus installed on Windows XP about this dangerous situation."

Read Whole story and conversation between Ognjen Peric and KAV Labs here: http://kasperskybug.tripod.com/continue.htm

I tried it myself and this guy is right. KAV doesn't scan archives when you use right click. KAV Version dated 04/02 didn't fix it yet.

Is KAV team really that stupid????
Please read these responds to Mr. Peric from KAV Team. The will make you look stupid…

Well, Eugene is fast as usual; here's a copy and paste from his answer - just arrived:

{QUOTE-> thanks for info.

as far as I remember, we have already reports like that, and I remind they reported to me that the problem is fixed already (by changing default
settings in installation package).

I did change default setting and nothing happend. It has nothing to do with KAV setting. This is KAV bug that for some reason KAV Team don't want to hear or don't care about it...

At the moment KAV "right click" feature under XP is useless...

I hope that someone else here at this board is running XP and KAV 4. If you do please let us know about this problem.

If anybody's interested, I don't have that problem with Win2K SP2, KAV 4.0.1.67.

Windows XP is effected with this problem.

Windows 9x/ME and 2000 are not.
