View Full Version : turn off XP firewall

Hi,
A friend of mine just purshased a new machine with XP Home edition on it. He wants me to install NPF. I know i must shut off XP firewall, but i dont remember how to do it. Neither does he. Please give me the step by step directions. I know its not complicated and ive done it once before. However it has been awhile and i dont remember!

Im also going to install NSW at the same time.

Click on your connection\Properties\Advanced

Untick protect my computer etc...
Idem for your LAN connection.

Sorry about wrong place for the post :-[ I must have been out to lunch!
Uncheck protect my computer etc. Whats the etc include? :-[
Idem for your LAN connection? Im not sure what is meant. Man im dumb. For some reason this doesnt ring a bell. I know i did this once before, but it doesnt sound familiar. Sorry :-[
As you can tell im pretty green at this.

It's here:

Control Panel > Network Connections > right-click your network connection item > Properties > Advanced tab > untick the "Protect my computer..." box (see image)

If you have more than one network connectoid, do this for all of them.

Yup thats it!! Man i must have had brain fade :) Once i saw the pic the light bulb came on, Thank you for being so patient :)
