I have true image, version 9, build. 2, 289 installed and have backed up my entire hard drive. Ran all of the required checks and everything appears to be ready to restore a complete system failure! Was wondering if I should at this time install the newest build, 2337 or since this version appears to be working, leave well enough alone ?

You really don't know if your present build is working until you give it the acid test - do an actual restore. If you have the resources to do this I would recommend that you test it. Don't wait until an emergency forces you to try it.

I have found that even if you get the "backup created successfully" message, the Restore does not work.

Hello rosina,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).

Please be aware that build 2289 is rather old and has a number of known issues which were fixed in the further builds. We therefore recommend you to download and install the latest build (2337) of Acronis True Image 9.0 which is available at: http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/

To get access to updates you should create an account at:
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/
then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

Please uninstall build 2289 by following Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Acronis True Image prior to installing build 2337.

Please create new Bootable Rescue CD after installing the update, boot your computer from this CD, see how the software recognizes your storage devices and verify the image by means of the embedded Check Archive tool. In case everything works fine, there should not be any problems restoring this particular image archive.

If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/) or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.

Thank you.

Good advice. I've read many different accounts many of them success stories. But until you run through a restoration yourself, you just never know for sure. I ended up doing it three different times in one sitdown(a long story) - once from a DVD, once from Acronis Secure zone and once from a removable HDD. All three were complete successes so far as I can see. I settled for the restoration I got from my removable Seagate HDD. I am encouraged. (version 9 build 2337) :)
