Hello Danalyzer,
Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/).
First of all, please make sure you use the latest build (2337) of Acronis True Image 9.0, which is available on our web site at the Product Updates (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/) section.
To get access to updates you should first register your software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/registration/).
Please create a new Acronis Bootable Rescue Media using the latest update, boot from it and see if the issue still persists.
If it does persist then please create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post (http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=55317) and submit a request for technical support (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/support/). Attach the collected information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with the solution.
Thank you.

Thank you for your reply, This is the latest edition , just purchased (2337) and a new boot CD.
I'm using XP SP2 . When I go to recover and try to drop down Computers near me the hour glass just keeps spinning. I unchecked auto config and put in an IP and sub mask net. Is that all i need. Do I need to reboot the network computer so that it announces itself on the net work. It appears to pick up the network card ok and detect if it's plugged in or not. does it need the dns suffix and gateway to work properly. i did not put these in only the IP and sub mask. I'm sure I just have something set wrong.

Hello Danalyzer,
Could you please let me know whether you have a DHCP server in your network?
Please fill all the fields of network settings (including DNS and Gateway) and try access your network once again. It is not necessary to reboot the target PC before trying to access it and save the image to it.
If this does not help then please create Linux system information as I suggested in my previous post and submit a request. It will allow us to investigate the issue more thoroughly.
Thank you.
