A2Squared setup?

??? I had used A2Squared Personal way back when I had a previous machine. I now want to use only the "free" version. I have not changed my email address. I keep getting the info. that I already have an account with this email address and the trial period has expired. I want to set up a complete new account and use only the "free" version. I wish they wouldn't have this registration requirement at all for the "free" version. This is not a big concern, just wondered if it can be done, also perhaps a suggestion for A2Squared.

:) Thanks. If I don't get anything in the next couple of days, I will do that. Not a big thing as I also use EWIDO, but thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to add A2Squared also.

Hi Wildy,

Usually your ISP gives you more than one email account, so maybe you could choose one of the others.

You could also do a registry scan for a2/a-squared/emsisoft etc to try and get rid of any traces of the previous version before you install the new one, as general clean up in there often works. Regseeker is very good and free.

Well ... the personal version won't automatically revert to a free version. So be sure you uninstalled the personal edition and installed the free version.

;D Read my first post, I do not have A2Squared installed on this machine and never did. I did download the "FREE" version, I got the key pertaining to the trail version which was on a machine I no longer have. I thought about giving HOTMAIL as my address, but don't know if they will except that or not, guess I could give it a try.

Well ... why do you want a new account if you already have one? You can use it for the free version without a problem. There is no need for a new account.

>:( Let me lay it out for you one more time. The updates are not possible without a password or key, however you want to call it. The information I get back is "the trial period has expired". I am almost at the point of saying to hell with this, the hassle isn't worth it. Do I have to start on this one as I have done in the past with AntiVir? Once again I have never, repeat never had A2Squared installed on this machine, and now I am not so sure that I want to.

In this perspective: any objections in changing your nick in use as it is now into "Andreas Haak"? That way, all will know they are dealing with one of the a squared staff members ;) .

Sorry Wildy i missed the fact that you used to have it on another machine, not this one.

I mentioned using another email account from your ISP if the usual one isn't accepted, because you can't use any other type to register with them, so that idea would work.

It might be water under the bridge now judging by your last reply, but should you choose to go for it, you know what to do now.

Chill it's only software, and free at that !

;D Success. I paused all security related programs to include the firewall and then downloaded the "free" version, from the vendors site. I then downloaded the updates. Don't know why it didn't work the first time, but on that attempt none of the security programs had been paused, and I had used another site to obtain the download.

I still think the requirement for a password or key for the "free" version should be eliminated. Also the method to sign into the forum should be set up like it is here at Wilders, and not tied into any account. Thank you for your assistance Andreas.

at first i was confused why u kept saying that but after checking the forum, i realised why. it had changed. it used just a regular username/password previously
