Hey guys I know more than the average joe about computers but probably a lot less than u 1337 haxorz in here, I just bought a laptop off of a friend of a friend in my dormatory, now all he supplied me with is the computer and the charger, but the laptop has some problems, #1 it resets the harddrive every time the computer is shut down or restarted, #2 i do not have administrative privalages to fix that, and the kid has since moved and we cannot get the password to acces his password for the administrator. Now i do not want to have to purchase all the software that is already on the computer, so how can i recover the admin password to the system when i restart in safe mode, and if u could use semi dumbed down terms that would help ^_^ thanks

micah.

you can make a bootable CD from the floopy using a burning software like Nero. Ask a friend for that or use the computers at your local library.

You want to "crack" the admin's password, without using a floppy if I understand well?

Maybe this will help you:
http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/
(Freeware,Open-Source and way too fast!)

Or this:
http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/
(There is both a floppy and a cd version)

Or this:
http://www.insidepro.com/eng/saminside.shtml
(You could use the trial version along with a BartPE/ERD Commander cd etc.
Check also GetSyskey/Gethashes from the same page,as they are there both freeware...)

Good Luck!

PS:Just a reminder:
If you run so-called..."1337 haxorz" things like that in machines that you don't have permission to do so,
then you'll also need an..."elite" lawyer to get you out of trouble, you get my point...play nice.
