The Luge should be made into a contact sport. Let them go down a big hill all at once. Thats the way we did it when I was a kid. Better yet, erect a chainlink fence at the bottom of the hill w/a jagged 5' hole in it. Whoever makes it thru 1st wins. We never lost more than 3 or 4 sledders in any one year.

the most incredible world record of all time was broken eariler today :o :o
i noticed while i was watching the speed skating i could put on my slippers and skate around my bed, on my new wooden floor, in about the same time it takes to do a lap of the Olympic rink. i haven't done any training but i decided to race around my bed to see if i could win the gold for GB in the speed skating 5,000 meters final.
it wasn't easy but i managed to settle into a comfortable rhythm while saving something in the tank for the final push. i did the last lap round my bed in about 3 seconds :o it was abit frantic but i still managed to smash the world record to take the gold for my country 8) ;D ;D

Sorry Wildguy,
If you look up the history of American Football you might find that it was sprung from English Football (Soccer) and Rugby! Pittsburgh hadn't been discovered yet!

:) That Rugby stuff will get you killed. The "Wildman" be wild, but rugby? I don't think the "Wildman" be that wild.
Hay if my gray cells are firing correctly I think I recall seeing on one of them history type networks that the native peoples of ancient times played some sort of game involving a ball, and they tried to beat the hell out of each other.
GOAL!

Methinks the pies would be put to better use by having a bake sale. We'll know in a couple of days just how many $$ the UK blew on this event.

Dear Big Ed,
Re your memo of the 25 inst.
I have it on good authority that our reluctance to bring medals home is entirely due to the limitations placed on metal cleaning materials declared toxic by various UK Government Departments.
Our natural ability let loose would I am assured result in an environmental disaster were the otherwise predicted amount of medals brought back to the Nations shores. Plus of course the additional air baggage handling fees would have been dreadfully prohibitive.
Ultimately then, we don't see ourselves as woefully short of medals - but as environmental warriors sacrificing ourselves for the planet & the economy.
I myself have been forced over the years to hide my own considerable prowess for the same good reasons. But stand ready and waiting - poised like a fox should my Country call.
