I have a new Windows XP computer and have just purchased, registered and installed Disk Director Suite 10 version 2,077 in order to split the single NTFS partition. I posted this query to Acronis and received a number 484369, but no answer yet.

I reduced an NTFS partition and selected "logical, no file system" for the remainder. Acronis labelled the remainder "174.4GB 0xBB (Acronis hidden)".
When I try to create a partition in this space by using the "create partition wizard", I get the following error message " - not enough free space on the selected hard disk drive".It is all virgin empty space on a brand-new computer (previously part of the NTFS sole partition). Can you please advise me how to convert it into a second NTFS logical partition and a FAT32 logical partition?

Although the partition is labelled "Acronis hidden", the "advanced menu" still shows the HIDE option, and not UNHIDE. Selecting HIDE makes no difference to the partition entry although HIDE changes to UNHIDE, but reselecting UNHIDE (and "committing")still makes no difference to the main window, whilst changing the menu option back to HIDE.

It seems impossible to alter this (Acronis hidden) logical partition, or to "unhide" it. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello scot,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Partition and Disk Managing Software (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/diskdirector/).

First of all, please download and install the latest build (2089) of Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 which is available at the Product Updates (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/support/updates/) section at our web site.

To get access to updates you should create an account (http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/my/) then log in and use your serial number to register your software.

As I can see our support engineer Konstantin Karikov is already working on this issue. Please create screen shots of your step-by-step actions which you took to hide/unhide this partition and send them as a reply to Konstantin's letter.

This information would let us check the correctness of your actions and provide you with a possible solution.

Thank you.

Thanks for reply, Kirill,
Sorry for delay - I have now updated and sent Konstantin the results, with all info I can think of.

Wahoo ! It worked !

The stubborn partition deleted OK - and I was able to create another NTFS partition, and a FAT32 partition.
Just as it said on the tin.

What a pleasure to be able to report good service nowadays (and a great product).
I can't buy the company, but certainly will buy True Image 9

Happy Bunny ;D
