Thoughts on encryption functionality . .

Someone said to me the other say that its very unlikey "they" would alow people to use security software/encryption if "they" could not break it . .
By "they" he means government agencies like NSA etc. What is the likelyhood that the powers that be have some way to decrypt and undo anything you do to secure/encrypt anything you have ? This is tinfoil hat conversation he was having with me - But it makes you think Hummm maybe they can crack anythig and everything ? Your thoughts please.???

'They' can't control encryption software developed outside US corporate zoo. Everyone on the planet can create any type of encrytion software, distribute it from a server outside US jurisdiction, and 'they' can't do anything about it.

Remember back when the americans tried to enforce export restrictions on PGP? Did that work?

It's tinfoil. U.S. intelligence is not nearly as cracked up as some would believe. Hell, they can't even find Osama.

Maybe though, there maybe computers or systems in place MORE VAST than we can imagin that can crack encryption in a good time with the sheer power. Dont forget the emergance of "Quantum pc" being researched. maybe the people high up already have the technology and is starting to leak public in an infant state. because Quantum pc's are supposed to be the ultimate in speed
