Hi All,
Just downloaded CleanCache v3.2.
Does it just delete files (i.e. can be recovered) or does it wipe them, i.e. do a DoD compliant removal or better like Gutman algorithm?
Does it have the option to do either via configuration?
Tia,

Hi Namor,
Thanks for the reply. A new note about Gutman technique:
According to Simpson Garfinkel on disk forensics at Black Hat Fed Conf this past week:
He is working to educate people that "format" does not mean "erase," and he hopes Microsoft will replace the current format command with a tool that truly zeroes out a drive. Simson also said he is unaware of any technique to retrieve data from a zeroed-out hard drive, saying that Peter Gutmann's 1996 techniques would no longer work on drives built since then due to the density of modern drives.

This is a very good program coz it's safe and has a secure cleaning options. After I use CleanCache... I also follow up on using the HD Cleaner's Wipe Free Clean Space function so that the files deleted in the Recycle bin and in the free space things are completely unrecoverable. ;)
