Google at work on desktop Linux (http://www.theregister.com/2006/01/31/google_goes_desktop_linux/)

This will be interesting if Google does this. I still don't think that Linux is ready for prime time. But, if Google can make Linux easy to use, and give it the level of support that it needs, then maybe.

they were talking about this at the Ubuntu board. all of them thought it would be a good thing because it would add more support (software/hardware) for Ubuntu/Linux and more people will hear about it.

google will probably install the software which doesn't "ship" with Ubuntu - video/audio codecs, java, drivers and all the other proprietary stuff which can be difficult to install, but make it cost something too- maybe £20

lol
{QUOTE-> The word Ubuntu means "humanity to others" in several African languages, including Zulu and Xhosa. It's one of the founding principles of post-apartheid South Africa. The origin of the word 'Goobuntu' is not clear, though it does not appear in online Zulu dictionaries. <-QUOTE}
