Trying to keep within the OP's parameters I would use any online antivirus scan while using a "live Linux CD" on an x86 box. ;D

What's wrong with Vista's UAC?

Spam post removed...

For the guy who said he would use "just that machine" - well, maybe if you weren't the vendor of that machine, we'd believe you!

Returnil or Sandboxie depending on my purpose for the computer.

The software encoded in my brain. The only virus it ever gets is Win32:JackDaniels. I clean it out of my system and the next afternoon I'm rebooted and ready to roll.

If you let me use the fw hardware, as only software application I would choose a good HIPS.

If I ever decided to use any security application it would have to be Windows ME. Surely nobody would be mad enough to write malware to attack such a badly written program.

LOL! Yes they would. :P

On my XP, I've been very satisfied with Avast. I've "tested it" online (if you get my drift), and it has caught everything thrown at it, so far.

In the real world, I also run Spybot (not running it, just keeping it immunized), and KeyScrambler

A-Squared anti-malware, Auslogics defrag, Winsockxfix, CCleaner, Eusing free registry cleaner, and free registry defrag to keep things smooth.
