Putting NOD32 and a Firewall software together...?

I'm really interested in getting rid of Norton, especially before they try and push me into upgrading to 2006, which, if possible, is supposed to be worse than 2005.

Anyways, I've narrowed it down to that I want NOD32 as my AV software. However, I also want a firewall software to go with it. I was thinking ZoneAlarm Pro 5...

So, will NOD32 AV and ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall work together alright? Do they seem like a good pair? I'm not too familiar with how well these softwares work together with others...

Running Sunbelt Kerio 4.2.3 paid version w/ NOD32 and XP SP2 Pro : never had any problem, they go very well together and the Security Center of XP recognizes them as well.

Ive had alot of problems with latest Zonealarm Pro - prob nothing to do with Nod32 though -- also Outpost has given me problems of late also... Games crash or dont start. Ive messed with the options alot but didnt find a quick fix.

I can recommend Kerio and Sygate... those are very good.

Kero WinRoute Firewall running alongside NOD32 here. Only conflict? It comes with inbuilt support for A/V suites and includes the EICAR test file that automatically gets picked up by NOD32. Nothing really sinister though! :)

Currently using Nod w/ ZA Free (which isn't exactly a popular choice amongst board members here, it appears). I'm trying to find a hardware firewall for a single computer at home--I don't "need" a router b/c I have only one computer, and I really don't feel like screwing around w/ one to make it work the way I want; and I don't use WIFI--I prefer to be hardwired for my Cable connection. I looked at the Stingray, but while it claims to be smart enough to recognize & allow certain traffic (i.e. via a bittorrent client), I don't like that there's only two options--shutting off all traffic, or allowing all traffic in.

I am running zonealarm sec. suite, latest version. Uses some extra memory, but page loads, etc. are quick. The ability to protect personal info on the paid version is a big plus as well.

I had netveda and was a big fan, but went to some websites two days ago, and, without going through a lot of rule creation, it was like a sieve. I couldn't believe how much stuff it was letting through. Was light on memory, and I THOUGHT I was well protected.

Sunbelt kerio was using a lot of memory and processes.

Sygate worked well, but wanted ongoing support/updates as I move forward.

Zonealarm free is a good choice as well, imo. BTW, you can find zonealarm pro out there for FREE this week. Just keep nod32, turn off za's a/v, and you're good for a year of updates.

Also, forget all that nonsense you're reading about za "phoning" home. They have a perfectly valid reason for what the program is doing on za's forum. I am very satisfied with the product.

I also run spysweeper 4.5 and nod32. Total memory for all three is approx.is 75-80 megs on load. I have a gig of ddr2, and my free memory rarely dips below 625 megs with alll processes running. So I may save 20-30 megs using "lighter" products, but everything co-exists on my machine, and I am satisfied with the protection.

I only have one computer myself.

NOD32 and Sygate Personal Firewall (SPF) here.
SPF is very light on resources and very simple to operate but with enough advanced configuration available at the application / global levels to work with whatever your specific requirements.
The only downside personally is that Sygate has recently been purchased by Symantec and they are no longer making it available for download directly.
SPF is a free for personal use product and is hosted by many common download hosts.
If anybody would like a list of available download sites for SPF, send me a PM and I'll copy you the list, unless anybody thinks I should just post it here anyhow.

Same reason I run NOD32 to ZA Pro. Since I want ad blocking, ZA Pro gives me(this may not hold true for others) slightly better response time, when surfing with ad blocking on, than Kerio or Outpost(both of which I have a paid license to).

But any one of the 3 are great with NOD32.
