Registry Mechanic

Hi,
I was thinking on purchasing Registry Mechanic, but first would like you all input on this software program? Is it good or bad? What other software is better?

Hi Berge01,

I've used Registry Mechanic for years, (current ver 5.1) with no problems. I was turned on to "Regseeker" by a moderator from another user group. After running a Registry Mechanic scan. I then ran Regseeker which found a whooping 1000 additional fixes. I now use Regseeker (free) & will not renew Registry Mechanic when it expires. I would also suggest getting the free program ERUNT for a good backup of your registry. Prior to regcleaning run ERUNT just in case, better yet do an ERUNT & restore point. Also see:

Regseeker is a great program, and I use it as well. But please be aware that it is no longer supported or under developemnt by Hoverdesk. If you go to their forum site, you will see no activity:

i've tried out the trial version of Registry Mechanic. Not impressed. Well, that's based on my experience using the product :-\

Been there done that, won't do it again. I tried Registry Mechanic and it can really screw up your computer, so be very careful what you delete with it. I didn't find the program very useful either. Most of the features are also available in free programs like CCleaner etc....

i have had good luck with TweakNow RegCleaner....it hasn't messed my computer up yet, and it's free!

I think Registry Mechanic is great as it has a restore point where you can restore if something wrong happens after the cleaning. But, still, there are some free alternatives out there that do the cleaning as effective as Registry Mechanic. As you know, I am only using the unregistered version of Registry Mechanic as it only finds the first 6 problems of the registry and I am happy w that, and then I used EasyCleaner free (probably one of the safest). I also uses RegSeeker free, but be warned that this is very aggessive and you must only delete the known left-overs or else you'll probably encounter some problems after cleaning. 8)

Not true. The last version of RegSeeker is v1.45 b0505 around 05/13/05. Excellent program.

I also use & recommend TuneUp Utilities 2006. Not freeware but excellent. OP you might want to try TU2006 trial.;D :thumb:

A good one i use with a strong feeling of safety: Ace Utilities. It is not free but accomplishes an excellent job. If i run Registry Mechanic or Easy cleaner or... AMUST afterwards, i get a congratulation message lol8)
