how good is eTrust7 promo (Vet/InoIT) - not the EZ one - compared to AntiVir PEC7 Beta regarding detection rates based on both virus db an heuristics?

AntiVir eats it with signatures and heuristics. Especially AntiVir 7 with Heuristics v2.0.

eTrust promo updates every day and it also uses hurestics and in my opinion it will protect better than Antivir easily.

Sorry bigc but eTrust's heuristics are pretty much useless. I haven't seen a single pieace of malvare get detected by them. While on the other hand AntiVir detected quiet few samples with them, not to mention upcoming Heur 2.0...

I am not here to argue just to give my opinion. I have tried both and in my opinion eTrust av not eTrust ez av will protect better. but it is up to the individual to make the choice as to which program makes them feel better protected. If I had to choose from my own testing, I would run Etrust R7.1 enterprise which is the commercial version of eTrust Promo. Between the two apps mentioned here That would be my choice. But I do not run either one of these at present.

sorry for reopening this thread again but I have a question, regarding detection of spyware/adware that Antivir PE does not detect, does eTrust handle it?
thanx in advance :)

eTrust promo?
Isn't this a dual-engine av?
If it is,I prefer AntiVir PE over it.

I remember when the eTrust dual-engine av was first available and a bunch of us on this forum were trying it.
I tried it and it didn't run as well on my computer as AntiVir PE Classic did at that time.
As far as better protection,I'd feel secure with AntiVir myself.
But,BigC says he would feel better protected with eTrust. That means something to me.

There isn't such an "av-guru", who suddenly can improve eTrust's detection rates against almost 300k trojans from that eTrust-VET 48.37% and eTrust-INO 41.92% to at least acceptable lowest free av's level, AVG 94.78%. No way! 8)

CA eTrust is probably the unacceptable scanner for me, I'm happy we decided to switch from eTrust Antivirus to other better solutions for our corporate network.
