Hmmm....I'll have to check into it a little more but spywarestriker came off fairly easy similar to the other sister programs that are really nothing more than a frontend for the BPS Spyware & Adware Remover program.
I do not recall your level of expertise cheater but after performing an un-install I suggest you look in the various Start up\Run areas of the registry and attempt to find where your version is attempting to install from.

You just beat me to the post :)
SpywareStriker is the latest rogue program from the SmitFraud criminal gang. The removal process for SpyAxe will also clean Spywarestriker.

I followed the instructions to a "T"...but that darn system tray icon is still there! What do I do now? Ewido found about 18 things wrong and fixed them...but I haven't resolved anything.

It's a tough one but I got rid of it completely doing the follwing: It worked for windows xp
1. boot up in safe mode.
2. Delete the files and registry entries listed at the following symantec link.
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/spywarestrike.html
3. Save your emails and favorites
4. open the control panel and go to user accounts
Create a new user name and delete your old user name. This is the only way that I could get rid of the task bar icon
5. reboot and log in under the new user name.
BIG CAUTION: Be very careful when working in your registry. Make a backup of your registry before making any modifications.

if you need to get ride of spyware striker it is no easy task if you have not spent hours researching what it does....
I have done the hard work and found the only solution is to not run all the fancy spyware programs available but one simple tool in safe mode.
this is the simplest way to do it all.....
Follow copy and pate the link below and follow the instructions, it really works
