I downloaded the just released Microsoft patch for WMF and now I cannot even open Firefox. Has anyone else downloaded the official Microsoft patch? If so and you're running with Firefox, how's it going? Or not. Thanks!!

Maybe it's because gdi32.dll changes and something in your security doesn't like that and blocks it silently thereby making it impossible for Firefox to start. It can happen with Outpost's Component Control but that gives you a warningscreen that it's changed giving you the option to "OK" it.

open Fx in safe mode (Firefox safe mode not windows). Close then try open normally.

If that doesn't work then delete history.dat or follow this guide: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser_will_not_start_up

Same setup as Joliet Jake, and no probs here either.

I've heard elsewhere that where you're most likely to run into probs with this patch is with Win Explorer thumbnails, but I don't use those so couldn't say.
