This is spyware?

I scanned with Ewido and it reported these Mozilla (I use Firefox) cookies as infections:

Doubleclick
Fastclick
Mediaplex
Atdmt

They are in C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\cookies.txt

Example: Spyware.Cookie.Fastclick

They are what is considered as tracking cookies from ad sites and safe to delete.

Since Ewido does not report all cookies as spyware, either all cookies are not spyware or Ewido isn't doing the full job. :D

Seriously though, use a cache cleaner regularly then you won't have a Tracker problem.

Cache cleaner? I thought deleting cache just removes the Internet pages you visited, and deleting cookies would remove all cookies. If the cookie remains on your computer, then after deleting cache won't the cookie still be effective with your newly created cache unless you remove the cookie?

Before I scan with ewido I always run CCleaner so I'm not notified about harmless cookies; I'm more concerned with actual spyware.

well i agree that tracking cookies can get annoying since theyre rather harmless and appear a LOT. i find it best to just prevent them from coming in the first place, using programs such as spywareblaster, etc. any remains are often deleted by ewido or any other antispyware app. when i scan.

No, you can configure CCleaner (for example) to selectively delete all cookies except for the ones you wish to retain (because they have passwords to sites you visit).

Thanks for the CCleaner tip. I downloaded it and it really is a neat way to remove unwanted cookies, aside from the other things it does.

I just disbaled cookies 90% of the time, and just enabled 'em for email, and bank thats all.. never get spyware cookies..I also use spware blaster isn't ewido supposed to cache trojons? does it?

disable third party cookies in firefox.

i have firefox and have only some sites allow cookies other sites NO COOKIES haha
