Alternate Data Streams and East-Tec Eraser Pro 2003

Hello There :)

Although this post may be a bit off-topic for TDS-3, I'd like to
thank Wayne for the information he has been kind enough
to provide regarding ADS's and which may also have
enabled me to discover that I may have been "mislead"
(at the very least) by a website advertisement for a
product that I spent $40.00 on, which does not do as
it claims -- deleting ADS's. (Thank you for this group,btw)

I had a question about East-Tec Eraser Pro 2003 and ADS's. Hopefully, there are some people here who use or know about this product. On their website they claim to be able to wipe alternate data streams on NTFS drives.

How can East-Tec Eraser Pro 2003 accomplish this if it cannot find the hidden streams in the first place? I paid $40.00 for this application because of the claims made on the website at http://www.east-tec.com/eraser/history.htm

Hi Jooske,

The .png (message) was part of EAST Technology's *website*, where
they are apparently engaging in false advertising with regards to
Alternate Data Streams and their claim to be able to delete them
from NTFS drives. Eraser dosen't even see the ADS's, let alone
delete them. My money would have been better spent on TDS-3.


I created another stream and ran their program and the stream
is still present on my NTFS drive after scanning for it.

If it's not too long ago you might try to get it back via the CC company? There should be a money back policy.
Maybe you find good uses for it anyway if not.
From the description it does lots of nice stuff but if your testing reveils that very necesary part is not functioning ......
An unsatisfied customer is a bad promotion so they should take you serious.


TDS does work in different ways of detection, and if there would be complaints they work on it as fast and good as possible, they keep personally in touch with you, they provide you with tests if necessary and build it in the software to avoid others not getting what they need to be protected for (more then we ever paid for in fact!)
TDS? your computer's life insurance. (and thus contributing to our health and well-being).
