New to True Image I was excited to try it out. I made a back-up of My Documents. Upon restore I cant access the directory. I get a permissions error?

Anyone? Anyone? Beuler, Beuler

When the backup is extracted the user dir that was in My Documents is now locked and I am unable to change the permissions. This dir was not locked previously. When I try to extract a specific dir from within my Documents I get the same issue. HDD capacity isnt an issue with over 2TB.

When you say restore - was this to a different disk or perhaps a different installation of (presumably) XP?

To change permissions you'll need to boot into safe mode with networking find the 'My Documents' folder, right click and then attach the folder to your current log on.

yes, went from my laptop to my desktop. Will give that a shot. Just seemed weird when that happened.

All files and folders in XP and 2K will have a unique series of characters added , which under normal circumstances you don't see. If you move a folder onto a different installation, the security characters will not match - therefore no access.

What might work for you, though I'm not sure, is to set up the folder with sharing rights on both systems and see what happens.
